COMPONENTS

In our manufacturing and fabrication process, DeAngelo Marine uses different stainless steel alloys like 316L, 321 and AL6XN. The high nickel and molybdenum contents of the AL6XN alloy give it good resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking.

We also form our own elbows using dies so that components are fabricated in tube, not pipe size.

DeAngelo Marine uses 5086 aluminum where aluminum metal may be specified. 5086 has a higher strength than 5082 and 5083.

Many of our components are built in-house and kept in inventory, this helps us improve our turnaround time.

WELDING PROCESS

DeAngelo Marine prides itself on Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) aircraft quality welds made by our skilled & certified fabricators.

Creating a perfect weld environment is of the utmost importance and a desired corrosion resistance depends on preparation.  Precautions are taken to protect seam exposure and to minimize oxidation.

Weld areas are protected from atmospheric contamination by purging ambient air introducing the inert gas, Argon.

DeAngelo Marine maintains a 1625 gallon Argon tank on site.

PASSIVATION

In the context of chemistry & engineering, becoming “passive” means being less affected or corroded by the environment of future. The passivation process improves the corrosion resistance properties of stainless steel components.

It recovers the surface condition of stainless steel by dissolving iron that has been imbedded in the manufacturing process.

Passivation consists of immersing stainless steel components in a nitric acid tank, which dissolves the imbedded iron and restores the original corrosion-resistant surface after the fabrication process.
